🔗 How to Merge Multiple PDF Files into One Document

By the MZScan team · Updated 10 October 2026 · 3 min read

A job application with a CV, certificates and a cover letter, a report assembled from several chapters, or monthly statements you want to keep together: all of these are easier to handle as one PDF. Merging is simple when you know how to prepare the files first.

Before you merge: check your files

Step-by-step

  1. Open PDF Tools and find the Merge PDFs card.
  2. Choose two or more PDF files. The files are joined in the order you selected them.
  3. Press Merge and download.
  4. Open the result and scroll through it to confirm every page is there and in the right order.

Getting the order right

The merged file follows the order in which you selected the files. If the order is wrong, select the files again in the correct sequence. Selecting them one at a time is the most reliable way on a phone. On a computer you can select several in the file picker, but check the preview afterwards.

Merging photos and scans

If some of your pages are photos or scans rather than PDFs, convert them first with Image to PDF, and then merge everything. For paper documents, use the document scanner so the pages are clean and straight.

Keep the final file easy to share

Email services and application portals often limit attachments to a few megabytes. If the merged file is too large, rebuild the PDF from smaller images by reducing the pictures first with the image compressor.

Real-life examples

After merging: a quick checklist

  1. Open the file and check the page count against the sum of your sources.
  2. Look at the first and last page of each original to see that nothing was cut off.
  3. Check for duplicates and for pages that appear in the wrong place.
  4. Rename the file with a clear, professional name.

Mistakes to avoid
